South East Cornwall is an ideal destination for family holidays with a number of decent family beaches. There are also several attractive coastal villages and towns to explore, including Looe and Polperro.

For walkers, there is excellent scenery on the coast path, especially around Rame Head. Inland, Bodmin Moor and Kit Hill are also worth exploring. Also of interest are the outstanding National Trust properties of Lanhydrock and Cotehele and many fine woodland areas.

The area is easily reached on the A38 trunk road.

Downderry. A wide and spacious sand/shingle beach, suitable for families, with many rock pools at low tide. The main part of the beach is accessible via a path (next to the toilets) or via the slipway. Dogs allowed all year. Downderry Details

Hannafore Point. Popular beach in West Looe, mainly rocks and pebbles with sandy patches. Dogs allowed all year. Sloped access. Hannafore Beach Details

Lantic Bay. South East Cornwall's best kept secret, a quiet sheltered cove with white sands, feeling more like the Mediterranean, than Cornwall. The climb down to the beach is unsuitable for wheel chairs or push chairs. Dogs allowed all year. Lantic Bay Details
Looe. Very popular family beach, can be very busy in the late summer. Dogs are banned all year. Looe Beach Details
