Cornwall Beach Guide

Bude Beach

North Cornwall.
Bude is a large seaside resort with an excellent beach called Summerleaze Beach which includes a free tidal swimming pool. At low tide the sand extends north to Crooklets Beach. There are shops and cafés in Bude and there is pleasant walking along side the Bude Canal.
Signs warn of strong under currents, large breaking waves and not to bathe on the left side of the beach (by the breakwater). Also do not use inflatables. Lifeguards in summer. See Beach Safety Guide.
The Summerleaze car park is close to the beach and there is level access to the beach.
Dogs allowed all year on Summerleaze Beach, but between 21 May and 30 September, between 10am and 6pm, dogs must be on leads. Note that at low tide, Summerleaze Beach joins with Crooklets Beach and dogs are banned on Crooklets Beach in the summer.
Bude is approximately 17 miles from Camelford and 27 miles from Wadebridge. Take the A39 from Wadebridge or Camelford. Shortly before Bude turn left onto the A3073 (signposted to Bude) and follow the A3073 into Bude and then turn left at a junction. Follow this road into Bude and then at a roundabout turn right (signposted to Town Centre). Then at a mini roundabout turn left where signposted to Summerleaze Beach and follow this road to the Summerleaze Beach car park. Alternatively at the first roundabout instead of turning right, carry straight on across the bridge, then park at a car park beside the canal and walk along the Bude canal to the sea front. There are other car parks in Bude.
