St Ives Beach

Description:
St Ives is a popular and picturesque seaside town which is a great place to visit, with plenty of gift shops, galleries and cafés. There are two super beaches Porthminster and Porthmeor. There are also three smaller beaches Porthgwidden, Bamaluz and Lambeth Walk and there is also plenty of sand in St Ives harbour and beyond the harbour wall at low tide. Porthmeor Beach is a popular surfing beach.

Access:
The largest car park at St Ives is by the leisure centre, but walking time to the sea front is about 10 minutes and is steep in places. There is a car park by Porthminster Beach but there are steep steps from the car park to a road called "The Warren" which leads to the beach. Final access to Porthminster Beach is via a short slope suitable for disabled access. There are steps to Lambeth Walk. There are various slipways to the harbour and there is a very small car park by the harbour and some limited parking on the pier. There are steep steps at Bamaluz. At Porthgwidden,there is a car park right by the beach and a short slipway to the beach, which is suitable for disabled access. There is a small car park right by Porthmeor Beach, but there are steps to the beach and a steep slope to the beach.
Dogs:
Dogs are banned on Porthminster and Porthmeor Beaches from 15 May to 30 September (10am to 6pm). Dogs are banned at Porthgwidden Beach and St Ives harbour from 1st July to 31st August (10am to 6pm). Dogs allowed all year at Bamaluz and Lambeth Walk.
Directions:
St Ives is approximately 24 miles from Truro. Approaching from the east on the A30 take the 3rd left at the Loggans Moor roundabout to remain on the A30. At the next roundabout take the 2nd left for St Ives (A3074). Follow the A3074 through Lelant and Carbis Bay to St Ives.
