Porthcurno Beach

Location:
West Cornwall.
Description:
Porthcurno Beach is a perfect sandy beach with fine views in West Cornwall. The nearby Minack Theatre can be visited during the day. Nearby Pednvounder Beach can also be reached via the coast path, but note that access is dangerous.
Safety:
Signs warn of strong currents, large breaking waves, not to use inflatables in high winds, deep shelving beach at high tide and risk of rock falls. Also risk of cut off at high tide. Lifeguards in summer. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access:
The path from the car park to Porthcurno Beach takes several minutes to walk and final access to the beach is via a short set of steps. At Pednvounder Beach, the coastal path is difficult in places and final access to Pednvounder is by scrambling down a sheer cliff face, which is dangerous and not recommended.
Dogs:
Dogs are banned on Porthcurno Beach from 1st July to 31st August (10am to 6pm).
Directions:
Porthcurno is 10 miles from Penzance which is 27 miles from Truro. Approach Penzance on the A30 and follow the directions for Lands End to stay on the A30. Two miles after Penzance turn left on the B3283 and drive through St Buryan. When the B3283 joins the B3315 continue on the B3315 through Treen until Trethewey and at Trethewey turn left (signposted to Porthcurno). Take this road to the main car park. There is a short walk to Porthcurno Beach.
