Pentewan Beach

Description:
Pentewan Beach is a large sandy beach facing east into St Austell Bay. Behind the beach is a large holiday camp and there is also a small village and disused harbour. The beach is private but access is allowed from Pentewan village. Note that the Pentewan village car park is very small.
Safety:
Signs warn not to use inflatables when windy, also of unstable cliffs. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access:
There are several paths from the Pentewan car park to the beach taking about 5 minutes to walk. On the paths there are steps in places so the paths are not suitable for wheel chairs.
Dogs:
Dogs are banned on Pentewan Beach from 1st March to the 1st Sunday in November.
Directions:
Pentewan is 4 miles from St Austell. Approaching St Austell on the A390 (from east or west), turn onto the Mevagissey Road the B3273. Follow this road to Pentewan for about 4 miles, then turn left where signposted to "Pentewan (village only)".

Parking:
1 very small car park in Pentewan village, with space for about 20 cars.
Toilets:
Yes in Pentewan village. These cost 20p and there is a complicated entry and locking system in use. When you enter the toilet you must press the red button on the wall to lock the door otherwise the door remains unlocked. Press the green button to unlock the door.
