Downderry Map

A wide and spacious sand/shingle beach with many rock pools at low tide. The main part of the beach is accessible via a path (next to the toilets) or via the slipway. The east part of the beach which stretches for half a mile is usually quiet due to difficult access. It can be reached either by climbing over rocks or scrambling down a slippery path (which can be found on the coast path). Note that the east beach has a reputation as an unofficial nudist beach


Directions:Downderry is 18 miles from Plymouth.
Take the A38 from Plymouth. At Trerulefoot, turn left onto the A374. After a mile turn right onto the A387. At Hessenford turn left and follow the road down the Seaton Valley (the B3247). Drive through Seaton and follow the coast road to Downderry

Safety:Risk of being cut off on the east part of the beach
